Battery Safety
E-scooters offer a fun, efficient, and environmentally-friendly mode of transport, but it’s essential to prioritize electrical safety to prevent risks such as fire, electric shock, or injury. The Australian Government has set clear safety guidelines to ensure safe charging practices and battery usage. Below are key electrical safety warnings and best practices to help keep both you and your e-scooter safe.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY WARNING! Not adhering to these safety guidelines could lead to fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to your e-scooter, cables, or other property. Please read all safety instructions before using your e-scooter.
WARNING! Using incompatible batteries or chargers can lead to dangerous outcomes, including spontaneous combustion. Always use the original charger and batteries supplied with your e-scooter, or ensure that any replacements are compatible to prevent overheating, overcharging, or ignition.
WARNING! Never leave your battery or charger unattended during charging.
The battery and charger can heat up significantly while charging. Keep them away from flammable materials. Charge your e-scooter in a garage, shed, or carport, away from living areas and escape routes. Do not cover the charger or battery during charging. Once charging is complete, disconnect the charger from the device. If you notice any strange smells, smoke, melted plastic, or unusual sounds, immediately disconnect the charger and discontinue use. Avoid exposing the charger or battery to moisture, water, or excessive heat. Keep the charger and battery out of reach of children and pets. Always follow the instructions printed on the charger and battery labels.
WARNING! Never modify or tamper with any part of your e-scooter. Any alterations can increase the risk of injury or fire hazards.
Safe Charging Practices for Your E-Scooter Proper charging and battery maintenance are key to preventing overheating, potential fire risks, and battery damage. Always use the original charger and batteries, charge your e-scooter in a well-ventilated area, and disconnect the charger once it is fully charged.
By following these safety precautions, you can help ensure that your e-scooter remains a safe and dependable way to get around.
